A bill for an act
relating to health; appropriating money for a central repository for
pharmacogenomics information.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; PHARMACOGENOMICS (PGX) REGISTRY.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2020 and $....... in fiscal year 2021 are appropriated from the general
fund to the commissioner of health to provide funding to the University of Minnesota to
develop a pharmacogenomics (PGx) registry to be available statewide. The University of
Minnesota shall develop a system to enhance personalized health care by: (1) developing
an integrated system that allows individuals to share the individual's PGx information on
the registry so the information is available to all providers and pharmacies the individual
has given consent to access the information; and (2) designing a system to allow individuals
to consent to maintain records of the individual's PGx results for research in a secure and
private data resource.
