  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; appropriating money for grants to 
  1.3             organizations developing health care purchasing 
  1.4             alliances. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [DEVELOPMENT OF PURCHASING ALLIANCES.] 
  1.7      $150,000 for fiscal year 2000 and $150,000 for fiscal year 
  1.8   2001 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner 
  1.9   of health for grants to local organizations to develop health 
  1.10  care purchasing alliances under Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.11  62T.02, to negotiate the purchase of health care services from 
  1.12  licensed entities.  Of this appropriation: 
  1.13     (1) $50,000 each year is for a grant to the Southwest 
  1.14  Regional Development Commission to coordinate purchasing 
  1.15  alliance development in the southwest area of the state; 
  1.16     (2) $50,000 each year is for a grant to the University of 
  1.17  Minnesota extension services in Crookston to coordinate 
  1.18  purchasing alliance development in the northwest area of the 
  1.19  state; and 
  1.20     (3) the remainder of the appropriation each year is 
  1.21  available to the commissioner for grants to other regional 
  1.22  organizations under criteria established by the commissioner.
