A bill for an act
relating to employment; authorizing employment support for persons with mental
illness; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT; SPECIAL PROJECTS.

new text begin (a) The commissioner of employment and economic development shall fund special
projects providing employment support to:
new text end

new text begin (1) young people with mental illness who are transitioning from school to work;
new text end

new text begin (2) people with a serious mental illness who are receiving services through a mental
health court; and
new text end

new text begin (3) people with serious mental illness who are receiving services through a civil
commitment court.

new text begin (b) Projects under paragraph (a) must demonstrate interagency collaboration.

Sec. 2. new text begin APPROPRIATIONS.

new text begin (a) $....... is appropriated in fiscal year 2008 from the general fund to the
commissioner of employment and economic development to fund special projects focused
on providing employment support under section 1.

new text begin (b) $....... in fiscal year 2008 and $....... in fiscal year 2009 are appropriated
to the commissioner of employment and economic development for the extended
employment-serious mental illness program.
