A bill for an act
relating to transportation; establishing skyway access requirements for stations
on the Central Corridor light rail transit line.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

ACCESSIBILITY.

new text begin (a) For purposes of this section:

new text begin (1) "council" has the meaning given in Minnesota Statutes, section 473.121,
subdivision 3; and

new text begin (2) "pedestrian skyway system" has the meaning given in Minnesota Statutes,
section 469.125, subdivision 4.

new text begin (b) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, for any transit station on the Central
Corridor light rail transit line that includes, as part of the initial transit line construction
project, construction or establishment of access to a pedestrian skyway system, the council
shall ensure that public access to the pedestrian skyway system is provided by an elevator
located at the site of the station.

new text begin (c) The council shall meet the requirements under this section at the time of initial
construction of the Central Corridor light rail transit line and the appropriate station.
