  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to public administration; changing certain 
  1.3             conditions on earlier project authorizations and 
  1.4             appropriations; amending Laws 1994, chapter 643, 
  1.5             section 21, subdivision 4. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Laws 1994, chapter 643, section 21, subdivision 
  1.8   4, is amended to read: 
  1.9   Subd. 4.  Tourism and Exposition
  1.10  Centers                                               2,200,000
  1.11  For two grants to political 
  1.12  subdivisions for exhibition space for 
  1.13  tourism and exposition centers.  One 
  1.14  grant must be for $1,000,000 to the 
  1.15  southwest regional development 
  1.16  commission for the Prairieland Expo 
  1.17  facility to develop construction 
  1.18  planning documents for, and to 
  1.19  construct, capital improvements.  This 
  1.20  grant is subject to new Minnesota 
  1.21  Statutes, section 16A.695.  It is the 
  1.22  legislature's expectation that the 
  1.23  commission will secure a grant from the 
  1.24  department of transportation's 
  1.25  intermodal surface transportation 
  1.26  efficiency act funds.  The other grant 
  1.27  must be for capital improvements for a 
  1.28  publicly owned tourism and exposition 
  1.29  center selected by the commissioner and 
  1.30  located in northeastern Minnesota. 
  1.31     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.32     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
