  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the environment; appropriating money for 
  1.3             an environmental education consortium. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [TO RAMSEY COUNTY.] 
  1.6      $....... is appropriated in fiscal year 1998 from the 
  1.7   general fund to Ramsey county as fiscal agent for an 
  1.8   intergovernmental environmental education consortium.  The 
  1.9   appropriation is for expenses toward the further development and 
  1.10  dissemination of interdisciplinary instructional materials that 
  1.11  are integrated across curriculum content areas and that meet 
  1.12  identified environmental education learner outcomes and state 
  1.13  graduation standards.  Performance packages must be developed 
  1.14  and implemented for these learner outcomes.  The learner 
  1.15  outcomes and instructional materials must be designed as a 
  1.16  sequence of in and out of classroom learning opportunities that 
  1.17  use the regular school classroom, day-use nature centers, and 
  1.18  residential environmental learning centers.  This project must 
  1.19  provide for the inclusion of multicultural, socio-economic 
  1.20  variances, and gender differences.  Members of the environmental 
  1.21  education consortium are independent school district Nos. 12, 
  1.22  621, 623, 624, and 625; Ramsey county parks and recreation 
  1.23  department; Anoka county parks and recreation department; and 
  1.24  the city of Roseville.
