  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; providing for a grant for 
  1.3             regional land use planning in the northern counties. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $250,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   director of the office of strategic and long-range planning for 
  1.8   the fiscal year ending June 30, 1997.  The money is to be used 
  1.9   for a grant to the Northern Counties Land Use Coordinating 
  1.10  Board, contingent on the board receiving $125,000 in local 
  1.11  matching funds.  The grant is to be used for developing a 
  1.12  coordinated planning process and comprehensive land use plans 
  1.13  pursuant to policy goals in the National Environmental Policy 
  1.14  Act, United States Code, title 42, section 4331.
