  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; transferring the 
  1.3             farmer-lender mediation program to the Minnesota 
  1.4             extension service; extending the Farmer-Lender 
  1.5             Mediation Act; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, 
  1.6             section 583.22, subdivision 5; Laws 1986, chapter 398, 
  1.7             article 1, section 18, as amended. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 583.22, 
  1.10  subdivision 5, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 5.  [DIRECTOR.] "Director" means the director of 
  1.12  the conflict and change center at the University of Minnesota's 
  1.13  Humphrey Institute Minnesota extension service or the director's 
  1.14  designee. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  Laws 1986, chapter 398, article 1, section 18, as 
  1.16  amended by Laws 1987, chapter 292, section 37; Laws 1989, 
  1.17  chapter 350, article 16, section 8; Laws 1990, chapter 525, 
  1.18  section 1; Laws 1991, chapter 208, section 2; Laws 1993, First 
  1.19  Special Session chapter 2, article 6, section 2; Laws 1995, 
  1.20  chapter 212, article 2, section 11; Laws 1997, chapter 183, 
  1.21  article 3, section 29; Laws 1998, chapter 395, section 7; and 
  1.22  Laws 1998, chapter 402, section 6, is amended to read: 
  1.23     Sec. 18.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.24     Sections 1 to 17 and Minnesota Statutes, section 336.9-501, 
  1.25  subsections (6) and (7), and sections 583.284, 583.285, 583.286, 
  1.26  and 583.305, are repealed on July 1, 1999 2001. 
  2.1      Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.2      Section 1 is effective July 1, 1999, and section 2 is 
  2.3   effective the day following final enactment.
