  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; clarifying placement 
  1.3             of televisions in motor vehicles; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1998, section 169.471, subdivision 1. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 169.471, 
  1.7   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [TELEVISION SCREEN IN VEHICLE.] No 
  1.9   television screen shall be installed or used in any motor 
  1.10  vehicle at any point forward of the back of the driver's seat, 
  1.11  or which where it is visible to the driver while operating the 
  1.12  motor vehicle except:  
  1.13     (1) video screens installed in law enforcement vehicles; 
  1.14     (2) closed circuit video systems used exclusively to aid 
  1.15  the driver's visibility to the rear or sides of the vehicle; and 
  1.16     (3) video screens installed as part of a vehicle control 
  1.17  system or used in intelligent vehicle highway applications. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
