  1.2             relating to state government; changing the appointment 
  1.3             authority for the executive director of the board of 
  1.4             private detective and protective agents; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 326.3321, subdivision 
  1.6             1. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 326.3321, 
  1.9   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subdivision 1.  [EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.] The board 
  1.11  commissioner of public safety shall appoint an executive 
  1.12  director to serve in the unclassified service at the pleasure of 
  1.13  the board commissioner.  The executive director shall perform 
  1.14  the duties as the board commissioner shall prescribe.
