  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education finance; redirecting the use of 
  1.3             the proceeds from the sale of certain school property 
  1.4             from the debt redemption fund to the general fund 
  1.5             capital account for student safety improvements for 
  1.6             independent school district No. 15, St. Francis. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [PROPERTY SALE; ST. FRANCIS SCHOOL DISTRICT.] 
  1.9      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 123B.51, 
  1.10  subdivision 6, or any other law to the contrary, independent 
  1.11  school district No. 15, St. Francis, may deposit the proceeds 
  1.12  from the sale of land that was purchased with funds obtained 
  1.13  according to Laws 1992, chapter 558, section 7, subdivision 7, 
  1.14  in the district's general fund reserved for operating capital 
  1.15  account.  The district may only use the proceeds of the sale for 
  1.16  projects designed to create or improve safe walking routes for 
  1.17  the students of independent school district No. 15, St. Francis. 
  1.18     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.19  following final enactment.
