A bill for an act
relating to education; requiring a study on concurrent enrollment course.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT STUDY.

new text begin (a) The commissioner of education must prepare and submit to the education policy
and finance committees of the legislature by February 15, 2016, a written report on
concurrent enrollment courses under Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.09, subdivision
10, consistent with this section. The report must include for each concurrent enrollment
course, at least:

new text begin (1) any differences between a concurrent enrollment course and the sponsoring
higher education institution's equivalent course in regard to:
new text end

new text begin (i) syllabus;
new text end

new text begin (ii) final exam; and
new text end

new text begin (iii) grading scale;
new text end

new text begin (2) the student eligibility requirements;
new text end

new text begin (3) the course prerequisites;
new text end

new text begin (4) all higher education institutions that have accepted transferring the course for
college credit;
new text end

new text begin (5) all higher education institutions that have denied transferring the course for
college credit; and
new text end

new text begin (6) the frequency at which the course is offered.

new text begin (b) Any costs of preparing this report must be paid for out of the Department of
Education and participating higher education institutions' current operating budgets.
