A bill for an act
relating to higher education; appropriating money for programs to help
foreign-born and other students succeed in nursing programs.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; KATHLEEN MCCULLOUGH-ZANDER
SUCCESS IN NURSING PROGRAM.

new text begin (a) $....... in fiscal year 2016 is appropriated from the general fund to the Board
of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to implement a program
to assist foreign-born students and groups underrepresented in nursing to succeed in
postsecondary nursing programs. This program shall include but not be limited to
mentoring programs, tutoring, and seminars.

new text begin (b) One-half of this appropriation must be distributed to state colleges or universities
located in the seven-county metropolitan area, including but not limited to Minneapolis
Community and Technical College. One-half of this appropriation must be distributed
to state colleges or universities located outside of the seven-county metropolitan area.
The board must select state colleges or universities to participate in this program based
on the proportion of enrolled nursing students that are foreign-born or from groups
underrepresented in nursing.

McCullough-Zander Success in Nursing Program."
