A bill for an act
relating to public purchasing; requiring consideration
of purchase of used goods; amending Minnesota Statutes
2004, section 471.345, by adding a subdivision;
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes,
chapter 16C.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin When acquiring goods, the commissioner or the agency making
the acquisition must consider purchasing used goods if used
goods may result in the best value for the purchasing entity.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 471.345, is
amended by adding a subdivision to read:

new text begin Used supplies, materials, and equipment. new text end

acquiring supplies, materials, or equipment, a municipality must
consider purchasing used goods if used goods may result in the
best value for the municipality.
