relating to state government; authorizing the secretary of state to solicit funds for
certain uses; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapters 5; 5B.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [5.38] AUTHORITY TO SOLICIT FUNDS.

new text begin Notwithstanding sections 16A.013 to 16A.016, the secretary of state may solicit and
accept funds to be used for technological projects to enhance the state's election system.
The funds accepted under this section must be deposited in the general fund and are
appropriated to the secretary of state for the uses authorized by this section.

Sec. 2.

new text begin [5B.12] AUTHORITY TO SOLICIT FUNDS.

new text begin Notwithstanding sections 16A.013 to 16A.016, the secretary of state may solicit and
accept funds to be used for the address confidentiality program established in section
5B.03. The funds accepted under this section must be deposited in the general fund and
are appropriated to the secretary of state for use in the address confidentiality program.
