A bill for an act
relating to health insurance; requiring coverage for hearing aids for individuals
older than 18 years of age; amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 62Q.675.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 62Q.675, is amended to read:


62Q.675 HEARING AIDSdeleted text begin ; PERSONS 18 OR YOUNGERdeleted text end .

A health plan must cover hearing aids for deleted text begin individuals 18 years of age or younger fordeleted text end
hearing loss that is not correctable by other covered procedures. Coverage required under
this section is limited to one hearing aid in each ear every three yearsnew text begin , except that additional
hearing aids must be covered within this three-year period if a physician or audiologist
certifies that it is necessary due to a change in hearing
new text end . No special deductible, coinsurance,
co-payment, or other limitation on the coverage under this section that is not generally
applicable to other coverages under the plan may be imposed.
