  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; modifying youth deer 
  1.3             license provisions; amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, 
  1.4             section 97A.485, subdivision 12. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 97A.485, 
  1.7   subdivision 12, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 12.  [YOUTH DEER LICENSE.] The commissioner may, for 
  1.9   a fee of $5.50, issue to a resident under the age of 16 a 
  1.10  license, without a tag, to take deer with firearms or archery.  
  1.11  A youth holding a license issued under this subdivision may hunt 
  1.12  under the license only if accompanied by a licensed hunter who 
  1.13  is at least 18 years of age and possesses a valid tag.  A deer 
  1.14  taken by a youth holding a license issued under this subdivision 
  1.15  must be promptly tagged by the licensed hunter accompanying the 
  1.16  youth.  Section 97B.301, subdivision 6, does not apply to a 
  1.17  youth holding a license issued under this subdivision.
