A bill for an act
relating to state government; requiring the Legislative Coordinating Commission
to study issues relating to men; amending Minnesota Statutes 2006, section
3.303, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 3.303, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin (a) The commission shall study and report to the legislature
on matters relating to the status of men in Minnesota, including:

new text begin (1) laws and practices that may evidence cultural biases against men;
new text end

new text begin (2) issues relating to parenting and child custody that have particular impact on men;
new text end

new text begin (3) health issues unique to men; and
new text end

new text begin (4) methods to encourage personal growth in men.

new text begin (b) The commission may receive and expend in its own name grants and gifts of
money consistent with the duties in this section.
