  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to health; requiring the commissioner of 
  1.3             health to seek federal approval for home delivery of 
  1.4             WIC supplemental foods. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [WIC HOME DELIVERY.] 
  1.7      The commissioner of health shall seek federal approval for 
  1.8   an amendment to the state plan for the special supplemental 
  1.9   nutrition program for women, infants, and children (WIC program) 
  1.10  to allow home delivery of supplemental foods.  The amendment 
  1.11  must include provisions to:  (1) prevent fraud; (2) minimize 
  1.12  additional program costs related to home delivery; and (3) allow 
  1.13  orders to be placed by phone, fax, or Internet.  The 
  1.14  commissioner shall notify the chairs and ranking minority 
  1.15  members of the house and senate committees with jurisdiction 
  1.16  over health care policy and funding on whether federal approval 
  1.17  is obtained. 
  1.18     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.19  following final enactment.
