  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to occupations; regulating registration 
  1.3             renewal fees for certain multiple barber shops 
  1.4             operated by a single barber; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 2000, section 154.15, subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 154.15, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [ANNUAL RENEWAL REQUIRED.] All registered 
  1.10  barbers, registered apprentices, and registered instructors of 
  1.11  barbering who continue in active practice or service shall, on 
  1.12  or before December 31 each year, renew their certificates of 
  1.13  registration for the following year and pay the required fee.  
  1.14  Every certificate of registration which has not been renewed 
  1.15  during the month of December in any year shall expire on the 
  1.16  31st day of December in that year.  All shop registration cards 
  1.17  shall be renewed on or before June 30 of each year upon payment 
  1.18  of the required fee.  Multiple shops operated by a single barber 
  1.19  may be renewed upon payment of one renewal fee in the same 
  1.20  amount required for registration of a single shop, if:  (1) the 
  1.21  operator is the sole barber operating in each shop; (2) the shop 
  1.22  does not offer the services of a cosmetologist licensed under 
  1.23  chapter 155A; and (3) the barber complies with any other renewal 
  1.24  requirements applicable to each individual shop, including the 
  1.25  provision of any information required by the board.  All 
  2.1   certificates of registration as a barber school shall be renewed 
  2.2   on or before December 31 of each year upon payment of the 
  2.3   required fee. 
  2.4      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.5      Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
