A bill for an act
relating to health; requiring the commissioner of
health to seek federal approval for home delivery of
WIC supplemental foods.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin WIC HOME DELIVERY.

new text begin The commissioner of health shall seek federal approval for
an amendment to the state plan for the special supplemental
nutrition program for women, infants, and children (WIC program)
to allow home delivery of supplemental foods. The amendment
must include provisions to: (1) prevent fraud; (2) minimize
additional program costs related to home delivery; and (3) allow
orders to be placed by telephone, fax, or Internet. The
commissioner shall notify the chairs and ranking minority
members of the house and senate committees with jurisdiction
over health care policy and funding on whether federal approval
is obtained.
