  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; providing grants to motor 
  1.3             fuel outlets who install E85 pumps and equipment; 
  1.4             appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 41A. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [41A.10] [E85 DEVELOPMENT GRANT PROGRAM.] 
  1.8      The commissioner of agriculture shall establish a program 
  1.9   to encourage motor fuel retail outlets to install tanks, pumps, 
  1.10  and other necessary equipment to dispense E85, as that term is 
  1.11  defined in section 296A.01, subdivision 19.  The program must 
  1.12  provide for use of funds appropriated for the purpose as 
  1.13  matching grants of up to $20,000 per outlet for those who 
  1.14  install E85 equipment.  The state's share may be no more than 
  1.15  half the cost of installing the equipment and must be matched by 
  1.16  funds from private industry or other organizations or entities 
  1.17  interested in promoting E85. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.19     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.20  commissioner of agriculture for purposes of section 1, to be 
  1.21  available until June 30, 2003. 
  1.22     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.23     Section 2 is effective July 1, 2001.
