  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; retroactively authorizing 
  1.3             independent school district No. 912, Milaca, to start 
  1.4             its school year prior to Labor Day. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [EARLY START DATE ALLOWED.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 126.12, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, and Laws 1997, First Special Session chapter 4, 
  1.9   article 7, section 49, subdivision 1, for the 1998-1999 school 
  1.10  year only, independent school district No. 912, Milaca, may 
  1.11  begin the school year on August 24, 1998. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.13     Section 1 is effective retroactive to July 1, 1998.
