A bill for an act
relating to transportation; traffic regulations; prohibiting certain citations for
speeding violations based on location tracking; amending Minnesota Statutes
2014, section 169.14, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 169.14, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin A peace officer may not issue
a citation to the driver of a motor vehicle for violating a speed limit under this section
if evidence of the violation is based primarily on information or data from a wireless
communications device located in the motor vehicle.

and applies to violations committed on or after that date.
