A bill for an act
relating to local government; prohibiting political subdivisions from paying more
than ten percent over the appraised value to acquire real property; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 16B.297, subdivision 1.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 16B.297, subdivision 1, is amended to read:

Subdivision 1.

Definition.

For the purposes of this section, "agency" means an
agency as defined in section 16B.01, subdivision 2, and the Board of Trustees of the
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, but does not include the Department of
Transportation, the Department of Natural Resources, or the Board of Water and Soil
Resources. new text begin Agency also means a political subdivision of the state, including but not
limited to a home rule charter or statutory city, county, town, the Metropolitan Council,
the Metropolitan Airports Commission, an instrumentality of any of those entities, or a
special district as defined in section 6.465.
