                              CHAPTER 2-S.F.No. 8 
                  An act relating to education; appropriating money for 
                  the repair and renovation of the Crooked Lake 
                  elementary school. 
        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
           Section 1.  [CROOKED LAKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL; 
        APPROPRIATION.] 
           (a) $500,000 is appropriated from the general fund in 
        fiscal year 1998 to the department of children, families, and 
        learning for a grant to independent school district No. 11, 
        Anoka, for unreimbursed expenses associated with the indoor air 
        quality problems at the Crooked Lake elementary school. 
           (b) Of the amount in paragraph (a), up to $250,000 is for 
        renovation and remodeling costs related to the indoor air 
        quality problems.  This amount is only for unreimbursed costs 
        that are not otherwise recovered from insurance proceeds or 
        other funds. 
           (c) Of the amount in paragraph (a), up to $250,000 is for 
        the expense of leasing facilities space and transportation costs 
        for the children who are displaced from the Crooked Lake 
        elementary school. 
           (d) The appropriation in this section is not subject to the 
        review provisions of Minnesota Statutes, section 16B.335, 
        subdivision 1. 
           Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
           Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
