                        CHAPTER 225-S.F.No. 736 
           An act relating to claims against the state; providing 
          for payment of various claims; appropriating money. 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
    Section 1.  [DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.] 
    Subdivision 1.  The sums set forth in this section are 
appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of 
corrections for payment to the persons named in full and final 
payment of claims against the state.  These appropriations are 
available until June 30, 1990. 
    Subd. 2.  John Frederick Ball, Willow River Camp, Willow 
River, Minnesota 55795, for permanent partial disability of his 
right thumb, six percent of his whole body, due to an injury he 
received while performing assigned duties at Willow River 
Camp.....$4,500.00. 
     Subd. 3.  Jay Dorman, Minnesota correctional facility - 
Stillwater, Box 55, Stillwater, Minnesota 55082, for loss of the 
tip of his left index finger, a disability of 2-1/2 percent of 
his whole body, while performing assigned duties at the 
Minnesota correctional facility - Stillwater.....$1,875.00. 
    Subd. 4.  Cynthia Elmore, 530 Knox Avenue North, Apartment 
7, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55411, for property stolen due to the 
negligence of institution staff who had it in their control 
while claimant was in segregation at the Minnesota correctional 
facility - Shakopee.....$700.00. 
    Subd. 5.  George Fairbanks, Minnesota correctional facility 
- Oak Park Heights, Box 10, Stillwater, Minnesota 55082, for a 
watch that was lost due to the negligence of institution staff 
who had it in their control while claimant was in segregation at 
the Minnesota correctional facility - Oak Park 
Heights.....$50.00. 
    Subd. 6.  Ray Jeffries Milliken, Minnesota correctional 
facility - Lino Lakes, 7525 - 4th Avenue, Lino Lakes, Minnesota 
55014, for permanent partial disability of his left middle and 
ring fingers, eight percent of his whole body, due to an injury 
he received while performing assigned duties at the Minnesota 
correctional facility - St. Cloud.....$6,000.00. 
    Subd. 7.  William Shatto, Minnesota correctional facility - 
Lino Lakes, 7525 - 4th Avenue, Lino Lakes, Minnesota 55014, for 
permanent partial disability of his right middle finger, 2.2 
percent of his whole body, due to an injury he sustained while 
performing assigned duties at the Minnesota correctional 
facility - Lino Lakes.....$1,650.00. 
    Subd. 8.  For reimbursement to state or local agencies of 
amounts paid for medical services to individuals who were 
injured while performing community service work for correctional 
purposes under Minnesota Statutes, section 3.739: 
    (1) For claims under $500.00 each.....$2,229.11. 
    (2) For medical services provided to Lois Lee for a 
fracture of her pelvic bone sustained while performing community 
service at the National Guard Armory, Albert Lea.....$10,256.85. 
    (3) For medical services provided to a juvenile for a 
fracture of the left humerous and lower humerous sustained while 
performing community service at Welch center.....$738.50. 
    (4) For medical services provided to David Alvin Thomas for 
lacerated right ring and middle fingers sustained while 
performing community service at the Red Wing vocational 
technical institute.....$809.28. 
    Sec. 2.  [DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS.] 
    Subdivision 1.  [GENERALLY.] The sums set forth in this 
section are appropriated from the general fund to the persons 
named in full and final payment of claims against the state for 
adjusted compensation arising from World War II, the Korean 
conflict, and Vietnam service.  The appropriations are available 
until June 30, 1990.

available until June 30, 1990. 
    Subd. 2.  Slayton Township, c/o Gail Johanson, Clerk, Rural 
Route 1, Slayton, Minnesota 56172, for gravel and grading of 
township roads that were used as an alternative to a 
state-established detour route.....$2,491.60. 
    Sec.  4.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
    This act is effective the day following final enactment.
