A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for the restoration of the
Appleton Opera House in the city of Appleton.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; PRESERVE APPLETON'S HERITAGE, INC.

new text begin $2,760,000 in fiscal year 2025 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to Preserve Appleton's Heritage,
Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to rehabilitate, restore, and preserve the Appleton
Opera House and Historic City Hall complex in the city of Appleton. This appropriation
includes money for replacement of windows and doors; interior preservation and restoration
work to floors, ceilings, and woodwork; major projects to preserve or replace plumbing,
fire, and mechanical systems, including elevator upgrades; and upgrades to and modernization
of the annex addition to support ongoing and future operations, including the addition of a
commercial kitchen. This appropriation is onetime and is available until the project is
completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.
