A bill for an act
relating to public safety; providing for notice of modifications to orders for
protection in certain instances; amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 518B.01,
by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 518B.01, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin A family or household member of a person
protected by an order issued under this section or a guardian or caretaker of a minor child
of a person protected by an order issued under this section may request the issuing court to
notify the person of a material modification to the order, including but not limited to the
termination of the order. Upon a modification of an order, the issuing court shall ensure
that the person who requested the notification is promptly informed of the modification.
