A bill for an act
relating to transportation; directing commissioner of public safety to eliminate
180-hour training requirement for postsecondary institutions offering commercial
motor vehicle instruction; authorizing rulemaking.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin RULEMAKING; COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE TESTING
PROGRAM.

new text begin (a) By August 1, 2024, the commissioner of public safety must amend Minnesota Rules,
part 7410.6180, by striking "that consists of at least 180 hours of training."

new text begin (b) The commissioner may use the good-cause exemption under Minnesota Statutes,
section 14.388, subdivision 1, clause (3), to adopt rules under this section, and Minnesota
Statutes, section 14.386, does not apply except as provided under Minnesota Statutes, section
14.388.
