A bill for an act
relating to legacy; appropriating money from the arts and cultural heritage fund
for a supportive arts grant program.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; SUPPORTIVE ARTS GRANT PROGRAM.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2025 is appropriated from the arts and cultural heritage fund to the
commissioner of administration to award grants to nonprofit organizations to provide
supportive arts programs to incarcerated persons and persons on supervised release. The
commissioner must consult with the commissioner of corrections in awarding grants under
this section. Grants must use the arts, including but not limited to visual art, poetry, literature,
theater, dance, and music, to address the supportive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative needs
of incarcerated persons and persons on supervised release and promote a safer correctional
facility and community environment.
