A bill for an act
relating to waters; appropriating money for grants to improve waters.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; WATER QUALITY PROJECT.

new text begin (a) $335,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the Board of
Water and Soil Resources for a two-year water improvement pilot project. Of this amount:

new text begin (1) $75,000 is for a grant to the city of Fergus Falls to address water-quality concerns
at Lake Alice;
new text end

new text begin (2) $150,000 is for a grant to Rice County to address water-quality concerns at French
Lake; and
new text end

new text begin (3) $110,000 is for a grant to Blue Earth County to address water-quality concerns at
North Eagle Lake.

new text begin (b) Recipients may use the grants to contract for water-quality improvement services,
testing, necessary infrastructure, training, and maintenance.
