A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for the renovation of the Harriet
Tubman Center East building in the city of Maplewood.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

RENOVATION.

new text begin $5,965,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to Tubman, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization, to design, construct, renovate, furnish, and equip capital improvements to the
Harriet Tubman Center East building in the city of Maplewood. This appropriation includes
money for accessibility improvements, partial replacement of the roof, electrical system
improvements, and construction of a commercial kitchen. This appropriation is onetime
and is available after the commissioner of management and budget determines that an
amount sufficient to complete the project has been committed to the project, as required by
Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.502.
