A bill for an act
relating to taxation; tax increment financing; expanding the definition of small
city; amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 469.174, subdivision 27.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 469.174, subdivision 27, is amended to read:


Subd. 27.

Small city.

"Small city" means any home rule charter or statutory city that
has a population of 5,000 or less and that is located deleted text begin tendeleted text end new text begin fivenew text end miles or more from a home rule
charter or statutory city, located in this state, with a population of 10,000 or more. For
purposes of this definition, the distance between cities is measured by drawing a straight
line from the nearest boundaries of the two cities.
