relating to health; requiring health plans to cover Vitamin D testing; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 62Q.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [62Q.523] COVERAGE FOR VITAMIN D TESTING.

new text begin Health plans shall cover the cost for vitamin D testing if a plan enrollee requests testing.
The plan enrollee may have the testing done in a hospital, clinic, or independent laboratory
as well as through a home test. A plan enrollee may request coverage for vitamin D testing
twice a year unless a health care provider determines more frequent testing is needed.

section applies to existing health plans offered in this state and those that are offered, issued,
or renewed for a Minnesota resident on or after the effective date of this section.
