A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; appropriating money to maintain veterans memorial
on Leech Lake.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; MAINTENANCE OF FLAG ISLAND.

new text begin $25,000 in fiscal year 2020 and $25,000 in fiscal year 2021 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of natural resources to maintain the veterans memorial
on the island commonly known as Little Pipe Island in Leech Lake. The commissioner must
maintain the island to prevent erosion, ensure that the island is clearly visible from the
watercraft on the lake, ensure that the flags that are currently displayed on the island remain
in good condition, and provide suitable lighting for the memorial at night. The commissioner
must not move the veterans memorial from Little Pipe Island nor allow the veterans memorial
to fall into disrepair.
