A bill for an act
relating to the secretary of state; creating a technology and cybersecurity account;
providing for technology and cybersecurity maintenance; proposing coding for
new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 5.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin Definitions. new text end

new text begin (a) For purposes of this section, the terms defined in this
subdivision have the meanings given them.

new text begin (b) "Information and telecommunications technology systems and services" has the
meaning given in section 16E.03, subdivision 1, paragraph (a).

new text begin (c) "Cybersecurity" has the meaning given in section 16E.03, subdivision 1, paragraph
(e).

new text begin (a) The secretary of state may retain two percent of all fees collected
by the secretary of state by law to be used for costs related to the maintenance and
enhancement of the secretary of state's (1) information and telecommunications technology
systems and services, and (2) for cybersecurity capabilities.

new text begin (b) Money received under this subdivision must be deposited in an account in the special
revenue fund and is annually appropriated to the secretary of state for purposes of this
subdivision.
