A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; establishing state bee; appropriating money; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 1.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

The rusty patched bumble bee, Bombus
affinis, is the official bee of the state of Minnesota.

A photograph of the rusty patched bumble bee must be preserved
in the Office of the Secretary of State.

To prevent extinction of the rusty patched bumble
bee, the bee is considered a species of most concern to the state. The Environmental Quality
Board must coordinate efforts to protect the rusty patched bumble bee in the state.

$40,000 in fiscal year 2020 is appropriated from the general fund to the Environmental
Quality Board to coordinate protection efforts for the rusty patched bumble bee.
