A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money for MAD DADS to provide services
and programs to underserved communities.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; MAD DADS.

new text begin $500,000 in fiscal year 2020 and $500,000 in fiscal year 2021 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant to Men Against Destruction,
Defending Against Drugs and Social Disorder (MAD DADS) to provide immediate and
long-term support through services and programs for underserved communities affected by
crime, gang violence, and drug use by helping persons in the communities through crime
prevention and intervention, youth development programs, community building, and family
enrichment. Any balance in the first year does not cancel and is available in the second year.
