A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money for grants to law enforcement
agencies to acquire portable recording systems.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. new text begin PORTABLE RECORDING SYSTEM GRANTS.

$....... in fiscal year 2021 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
public safety for grants to any law enforcement agency that does not currently use a portable
recording system for the cost of acquiring a portable recording system for use by uniformed
patrol officers. As used in this section, "law enforcement agency" has the meaning given
in Minnesota Statutes, section 626.84, subdivision 1, paragraph (f), and "portable recording
system" has the meaning given in Minnesota Statutes, section 13.825, subdivision 1. This
is a onetime appropriation.
