A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating funds for business training courses
targeted at women of color.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin WOMENVENTURE; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2018 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
employment and economic development for a grant to WomenVenture to provide their core
business courses on location in three communities in the Twin Cities with significant
populations of Hispanic, African-American, Hmong, and American Indian women. Funds
may be used for program expenses including but not limited to: hiring trainers; space rental;
and supportive services to help participants attend the training, including assistance with
course fees, child care, transportation, and safe and stable housing. In addition, up to .......
percent of grant funds may be used for WomenVenture's administrative costs. This is a
onetime appropriation and is available until June 30, 2019.
