A bill for an act
relating to autism services; appropriating money for grants to Minnesota Life
College.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; INDIVIDUALS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM
DISORDER.

new text begin (a) $2,550,000 in fiscal year 2018 is appropriated from
the general fund to the commissioner of human services for a grant to Minnesota Life College
to meet the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorder. This appropriation may be
used to:

new text begin (1) create a best practices curriculum for serving individuals with autism spectrum
disorder in residential placements with therapeutic programming; and
new text end

new text begin (2) expand Minnesota Life College facilities by adding safety features, living spaces,
and academic areas.

new text begin (b) Any unexpended balance in the first year is available in the second year of the
biennium.

new text begin (c) This is a onetime appropriation.

appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of the Office of Higher Education
for a grant to Minnesota Life College for need-based scholarships and tuition reduction.
