A bill for an act
relating to workforce development; providing employment services to persons
with traumatic brain injuries; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 268A.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES.

new text begin The commissioner of employment and economic development, in cooperation with
the commissioner of human services, shall provide employment services for persons with
traumatic brain injuries. The commissioner must: (1) assist persons with traumatic brain
injuries in obtaining and retaining competitive employment; (2) emphasize individual
client preferences; (3) ensure interagency collaboration at the local level between
vocational rehabilitation field offices, workforce centers, county service agencies, and
community rehabilitation providers in assisting clients; (4) provide benefits counseling; (5)
conduct rapid job search; and (6) involve clients in the planning, development, oversight,
and delivery of employment and support services. Notwithstanding any other law to the
contrary, services provided under this section shall be provided at no cost to the individual.
