A bill for an act
relating to human services; appropriating money for grants to recovery school
programs.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin RECOVERY SCHOOL PROGRAMS.

new text begin (a) $400,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2015 from the consolidated chemical
dependency treatment fund to the commissioner of human services for grants to qualifying
recovery school programs. The commissioner may award a grant of up to $100,000 to the
fiscal agent for each qualifying recovery school program for the purpose of paying salaries
for licensed chemical dependency counselors. A qualifying recovery school program may
apply for a grant in the manner and form determined by the commissioner of human
services. The base budget for each qualifying school is $100,000.

new text begin (b) For purposes of this section, "qualifying recovery school program" means an
academic setting designed to meet graduation requirements that provides assistance
with recovery and continuing care to students who are recovering from substance abuse
or dependence.
