A bill for an act
relating to local government; allowing Mower County to go to a four-day week
for five years.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin MOWER COUNTY PILOT PROJECT; FOUR-DAY WEEK FOR
COUNTY OFFICES.

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 373.052, subdivision 1, the Mower
County Board of County Commissioners may provide by ordinance that county offices
are open for public business four business days a week, except (1) legal holidays, (2)
holidays established by the county board pursuant to contract with certified employee
bargaining units, and (3) emergency situations. "Business day" means Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The county must not adopt an ordinance establishing
a four-day week until the affected collective bargaining units have agreed in writing to
the provisions of the ordinance.
