A bill for an act
relating to capital improvements; authorizing the issuance of state bonds;
appropriating money for natural area protection in the Twin Cities metropolitan
region and portions of the surrounding counties.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $5,000,000 is appropriated from the bond proceeds fund to the commissioner of
natural resources, in consultation with the Metro Greenways Advisory Committee, for the
metro greenways program and for grants to local units of government to protect or better
natural areas in the metropolitan area, as defined by Minnesota Statutes, section 473.121,
subdivision 2, and portions of the surrounding counties through grants, conservation
easements, and fee acquisition.

Sec. 2. new text begin BOND SALE AUTHORIZATION.

new text begin To provide the money appropriated in this act from the bond proceeds fund, the
commissioner of finance shall sell and issue bonds of the state in an amount to $5,000,000
in the manner, upon the terms, and with the effect prescribed by Minnesota Statutes,
sections 16A.631 to 16A.675, and by the Minnesota Constitution, article XI, sections 4
to 7.
