A bill for an act
relating to insurance; limiting certain remedies of uninsured motorists; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 65B.51, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 65B.51, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Uninsured motorist; ineligibility to recover damages for noneconomic
detriment.

new text begin In an action described in subdivision 1, no person may bring an action for, or
recover damages for, noneconomic detriment if the person, at the time of the injury, was
an owner of a motor vehicle involved in the incident that resulted in the injury, and the
motor vehicle was not covered under a plan of reparation security.

injuries occurring on or after that date.
