  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to child labor; exempting certain minors from 
  1.3             minimum age restrictions for work as soccer assistant 
  1.4             referees; amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 
  1.5             181A.07, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 181A.07, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 4a.  A minor at least 11 years of age and less than 
  1.10  14 years of age shall be exempt from the minimum age provisions 
  1.11  of section 181A.04, subdivision 1, if employed in the position 
  1.12  of assistant referee in a youth soccer athletic program event in 
  1.13  which the participants are under 14 years of age and if: 
  1.14     (1) an adult representing the state or local athletic 
  1.15  program is on the premises at which the athletic program event 
  1.16  is occurring; and 
  1.17     (2) a person responsible for the state or local athletic 
  1.18  program possesses a written acknowledgment signed by the minor's 
  1.19  parent or guardian consenting to the minor's employment as an 
  1.20  assistant soccer referee. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
