  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; modifying payment terms 
  1.3             for departmental contracts and grants; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 2003 Supplement, section 84.026. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2003 Supplement, section 
  1.7   84.026, is amended to read: 
  1.8      84.026 [CONTRACTS AND GRANTS FOR PROVISION OF NATURAL 
  1.9   RESOURCES SERVICES.] 
  1.10     The commissioner of natural resources is authorized to 
  1.11  enter into contractual or grant agreements with any public or 
  1.12  private entity for the provision of statutorily prescribed 
  1.13  natural resources services by or for the department.  The 
  1.14  contracts or grants shall specify the services to be provided 
  1.15  and, where services are being provided for the department, the 
  1.16  amount and method of reimbursement payment after services are 
  1.17  rendered.  Funds generated in a contractual agreement made 
  1.18  pursuant to this section shall be deposited in the special 
  1.19  revenue fund and are appropriated to the department for purposes 
  1.20  of providing the services specified in the contracts.  All 
  1.21  contractual and grant agreements shall be processed in 
  1.22  accordance with the provisions of section 16C.05.  The 
  1.23  commissioner shall report revenues collected and expenditures 
  1.24  made under this section to the chairs of the Committees on 
  1.25  Appropriations in the house and Finance in the senate by January 
  2.1   1 of each odd-numbered year.
