  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; providing for certain 
  1.3             trapping by nonresidents; providing for tending 
  1.4             snares; amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, sections 
  1.5             97A.475, subdivision 20; 97B.601, subdivision 3, by 
  1.6             adding a subdivision; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.7             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 97B; repealing Minnesota 
  1.8             Rules, part 6234.2400, subpart 10. 
  1.9   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.10     Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 97A.475, 
  1.11  subdivision 20, is amended to read: 
  1.12     Subd. 20.  [TRAPPING LICENSE.] The fee for a license to 
  1.13  trap fur-bearing animals is: 
  1.14     (1) for persons residents over age 13 and under age 18, $6; 
  1.15  and 
  1.16     (2) for persons residents age 18 and older, $20; and 
  1.17     (3) for nonresidents, $73.  
  1.18     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 97B.601, 
  1.19  subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.20     Subd. 3.  [NONRESIDENTS:  RACCOON, BOBCAT, FOX, COYOTE, 
  1.21  CANADA LYNX.] A nonresident may not take raccoon, bobcat, fox, 
  1.22  coyote, or Canada lynx by firearms without a separate license to 
  1.23  take that animal in addition to a small game license.  
  1.24     Sec. 3.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 97B.601, is 
  1.25  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.26     Subd. 3a.  [NONRESIDENTS; TRAPPING SMALL GAME.] A 
  1.27  nonresident may take small game by trapping only on land owned 
  2.1   by the nonresident, if the nonresident possesses a trapping 
  2.2   license and a small game license. 
  2.3      Sec. 4.  [97B.952] [TENDING SNARES.] 
  2.4      A snare must be tended at least once every third calendar 
  2.5   day. 
  2.6      Sec. 5.  [REPEALER.] 
  2.7      Minnesota Rules, part 6234.2400, subpart 10, is repealed.
